Find activities that will change the mindset of people by implanting new ideas. Organizations operate on a default plate that consists of bosses and juniors. Develop new ideas of collaboration and ways of doing things. Without breaking traditions, new ideas should be injected. Use activities organized to help participants to build trust in each other. It is common for workers to either fear or fail to trust others on purpose. Unless there is trust that a boss can deliver and junior can step-in when the need arises, it will be impossible for the organization to achieve harmony and work towards a common goal. Trust also helps you to examine the potential of all individuals and workers in your organization.

Participants must get lessons on the power of support. Juniors lack support by being ignored or engaged whenever new projects are being implemented. Some have skills that are never considered important in achievement of overall goals. Lack of support causes many of them to withdraw and fail to make contributions. They end up working below their capacities. The potential of a lot of employees and the entire organization is lost.

Develop a system of recognizing, encouraging and rewarding achievers. Everyone starts through a job description. Beyond that, new skills and ideas will emerge. How do you nurture these ideas and skills so that they help your organization to grow? Persons who feel that they are not recognized by an organization will always move one. The reward system should be fair and also offer commensurate reward. It is this encouragement that makes people to develop new ideas and share them with your organization.

Make the engagements positive. This is one of the most difficult principles. Negative things will always happen in organizations. Maintaining a positive outlook even when things have gotten bad is a difficult bet. However, it requires effort and guidance from the leadership. Workers or participants during an event should learn to see the positive side of things. This enables the group to actualize its potential.

Teach participants on the benefits of working together or collaborating. The bigger goals can only be achieved when the contribution of everyone counts. The urgency to appreciate individual contributions is very important. It helps you deliver faster. You will use fewer resources, time and still achieve more if you collaborate.

A powerful organization can only be achieved if individuals are empowered. Make effort to teach individuals on the need to become a part of a team working towards common goals. After all, teams are made by individuals and their strength determines that of the entire organization.

Breaking Down The Phenomenon Of Collective Empowerment

In a community, empowering all the individuals in a single manner is much different than empowering each individual in a group. The phenomenon of collective empowerment refers to the empowering of a group for a purpose in pushing the enrichment of the group mindset. Here is a breakdown of how this may happen.

Now, if one would look at the television or even on the internet today, he or she would see a lot of movements like the Pride movement, animal rights movement, environmentalist movement, feminist movement, meninist movement, and many more. These movements are all strong movements with each person in the group contributing their actions and their voice. However, it does raise the question of how the people inside are very united for the single cause.

Well, the simple answer to that would be the selection of the right people for the cause. In general, people feel more powerful if they run in a group. This is actually a natural trait for most humans because people would generally be scared of possible enemies and will feel more empowered if there are other people with him or her.

One of the best examples to look at would be the most recent big rally that sparked headlines which happened in Hong Kong. Now, in this rally, the protesters were all fighting against a government bill that allowed extradition from China. Upon hearing about the bill, the young people of the country flooded the streets, peacefully protesting against the government.

The reason as to why the rally became a success was because the people were united and therefore empowered as a collective group. As mentioned above, the whole concept behind the movement would be the power that comes in numbers. Since the people are united under the flagship of a single cause, they know exactly how to act and they also feel stronger since they have the backing of a large group.

However, group empowerment does not also necessary need to be just about protesting a certain movement or advocacy. It can also be about empowering people who have certain interests to share their passion with other people who have the same interests. For example, people who like a certain kind of art may not feel empowered to pursue such passions if they feel that nobody will be interested anyway.

But if there are certain groups that share the same passion for that particular art form, one will feel more comfortable pursuing it. It is simply because there is a group of people that will be interested and even passionate in the same thing that he or she does. That in itself is an empowering experience as people who travel in groups do have power.

With that said, collectively empowering a group of people is not only great for the cause of the group but also for the individual people inside the group as well. The whole purpose of the group is fulfilled and everyone in it is happy. It is basically bringing people together so that they can share power with each other.

LGBTQ+ Mentor Robyn Ochs Speaking On Culture

When it comes to history and culture, the LGBTQ+ community is now in the limelight. For, not only are a number of individuals celebrating Pride Month, it is also the upcoming 50th anniversary of Stonewall. Whereas, it is also a rather historic anniversary for Robyn Ochs, a bi activist, speaker, teacher and writer whom has been active in speaking on culture as related to the bisexual community for over 50 years.

An editor of the Boston Bisexual Women's Newsletter, a Bi quarterly for women and two anthologies Getting Bi: and RECOGNIZE, Robyn also has a presence in the world of publication. In addition, experiences with regards to writing goes well beyond the LGBTQ+ community.

The activist and writer has also published a number of non-fiction books related to different areas including women's studies, multiculturalism and LGBTQ+ history in Canada as well as the United States. In doing so, Robyn has become one of the only bisexuals to craft a definition which could actually relate to most whom identify in this manner. While this is the case, Ochs still recognizes the long time reality that there are often as many definitions of bisexuality as there are bisexuals.

The definition which Robyn has provided in several publications states that bisexuality actually describes any individual who has the potential to be attracted to more than one gender, whether that be male, female, binary or transgendered though not always at the same time or in the same way or degree. For, most bisexuals have the capability to carry on either a monogamous or non-monogamous relationship with all gender identifications.

The Advocate magazine recently included Robyn in a 50 Heroes 50 States listing which was in large part thanks to Teen Vogue whom places Ochs as one of 9 women which identify as bisexual making history. In large part, both honors were given due to the activist's ongoing commitment of intersectional, community and commitment based activism. Whereas, Robyn has also worked with other communities in building bridges and coalitions across different communities.

Robyn has also served for more than twelve years on the MassEquality Board of Directors, an organization dedicated to statewide equality. Whereas, the activist and speaker was also part and parcel to the LGBTQ Massachusetts Youth Commission for three years. The latter of which is most likely one of the primary inspirations for the speaking engagements provided to LGBTQ+ college students across the country each year.

Robyn recently received a Campus Pride's Voice and Action Award for work in this area. Whereas, the activist also received a Lifetime Achievement award from Harvard University's Gender & Sexuality Caucus. These two prestigious awards, along with others, show that not only fellow community members but professionals and others hold a great deal of respect for Ochs, including President Obama whom the activist met in 2009.

In addition to the lifetime achievement award, Robyn was also presented with an award for an active and lengthy presence in the LGBTQ+ movement for over 50 years. The award provided by the director of the National Task Force was based on Och's goal to gain inclusivity for all LGBTQ+ members within the larger Queer community. For, had it not been for the work of Robyn and other community members, bisexuals would most likely still lack visibility when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community as well as the world at large.
