Empowerment can also be defined as the process of obtaining opportunities for marginalized people in society. Whether through the help from those effected or from non-marginalized individuals whom have shared stories to promote equality in the future. Whereas, it can also include attempts to deny opportunities based on a number of different factors.

Collective empowerment is different from individual forms that it generally involves two or more people whom are working together for the common good. For example, groups such as LGBTQ+ pride committees who work all year, often on a volunteer basis to plan and promote a pride parade open to all in the LGBTQ+ community, family, friends and allies. After which, there are often new supporters whom wish to help promote equality whether in a city, state, country or around the globe.

While there are some whom suggest that empowering women is equal to discriminating against men, this is not the case. In addition, all genders including transgendered individuals need to be equally empowered. Living a globally oriented life with a perspective in which all individuals are equal when it comes to standards, improvement of conditions and events is often the best way to empower oneself and others.

While it is possible to empower individuals and groups in certain ways, creating a more equal and empowered world continues to remain a worthy goal. Although, until people can learn how to agree to disagree while growing in peace and love, there will always be a need for individual and collective empowerment. While the concept to strengthen the world by strengthening the people is a noble one, not all are willing to be the change others want to see in the world.

Race relations is a debate that is not about to die anytime soon.
