Trying to get your hubby to buy you Louboutin pumps or trying to get your boss to up the ante on your income each requires the technique of the undeniable power of persuasion.

Persuasion is a sort of social influence. If and when a person is influenced by another person as to his or her thoughts or actions, this kind of influence is at work. And it should not come as a revelation that there are different ways in which this can be achieved.

All of us can utilize these techniques. To succeed with persuasion, we need to have a working knowledge of the ways of the human mind and how to manipulate those ways in order to alter how someone else thinks or feels.

The various techniques of persuasion are now generally accepted in the world at large. And marketers and various industries make ample use of it to get their products sold.

The following inventory will show how persuasion is employed in its various forms:

1.Reciprocity: The old saying tells us that there is no such thing as a free lunch. In other words, when we are given something, we feel like giving something back for it. This explicates the success of handing out free samples. Then you get one, you feel a kind of duty to return the favor by buying the product in question.

2.A sense of commitment: It is not remarkable that if and when we commit ourselves to making a donation for a cause we believe in, we tend to honor our obligation to deliver on our pledge.

3.Belief in social proof: This has to do with "monkey see, monkey do." In other words, if many are doing it, we think we should also do it. That's because we believe that the many must be right. Even if our belief system is different, we will pursue the example of the many.

4.The presence of an authority figure: When we see some authority figure sanction something, we offer that something credence and trust. When someone talks as if they knew what they were talking about, we likewise give credence and trust. As if nothing but pure facts were involved.

Of the many ways in which persuasion can take place, two stand out: an plea to reason or an appeal to one's emotions. There are even other ways in which persuasion can succeed: such as body language. These are some of the many ways that salesmen operate in every corner of the world.

Still, many feel that persuasion and its uses should be regulated to maintain them in check. Since it is a forceful tool, many feel that it should always be used with a sense of responsibility.
