When listening to a speech or presentation, were there times when you have ever fallen asleep? There are times when taking a nap during a presentation can boost your energy for the remainder of the day. Speakers- if you want to be the one to send your audience to sleep, so they will be fully alert for other people's presentations follow these ten tips.

Your material should be dry as well as boring. It could be either complex or it could be highly technical. If at all possible fill your speech with specialized academic content that is not easily understood without prior study and research.

Do not include any explanations or illustrations to make the content understandable to the average person in your audience.

Your speech should be scheduled after a big meal or at the end of a long day. By doing this, there will be an incentive for lethargy and drowsiness.

Speak softly and avoid any expression or vocal variety that might distract or interest your audience.

A great idea would be to stand still behind the lectern during your entire speech. The audience could be awakened by any movement or sudden gestures.

In your presentation, avoid any variation in style. Make sure that you avoid change from talking to using a flip chart, PowerPoint, or any other kind of visual aid that will only attract attention.

You should never include any humor or stories in your speech that would serve to illustrate the important points that you wish to communicate.

Try not to keep to the topic of the speech. What you can do is ramble on and on about subjects or personal experiences that are totally off topic and boring.

Speaking about a topic that is very familiar to your audience is another great tip. Things that they already know is what your content should include.

In order for your audience not to miss out on any important information during their snooze, you should provide highly detailed handouts. Saying something that is not included in the hand out is another thing you should avoid. You can just read the hand out word for word if you want the best results.

With any luck, following the ten tips outlined here will ensure that you have the satisfaction of seeing an entire audience snoring quietly and happily throughout your entire presentation. Otherwise, not following these tips could result to you being surprised to discover that your audience is interested and alert in what you have to say.
